Lucas Leygood
Fire & BloodLucas Leygood was a gold cloak involved in two episodes of political upheaval in King’s Landing: the seizure of assets after the Rogare Bank collapsed, and the later arrests of those implicated in a conspiracy. He was among the accused who resisted capture, and died in the fighting at the Gate of the Gods.
Service and the Rogare collapse
When news reached Westeros that the Rogare Bank had failed, Leygood acted with the Crown’s authority in King’s Landing. He and his gold cloaks arrested Lotho Rogare as Lotho attempted to leave the city. They seized his letters and ledgers, together with the remaining gold and silver in the vaults atop Visenya’s Hill. The operation placed Leygood at the center of the immediate response to a financial collapse that had reached beyond Lys and left Westerosi lords and merchants facing the loss of their deposits.
Accusation and resistance
Leygood later appeared among the people named by the Lord Confessor after the sight of the instruments of torment prompted him to identify alleged conspirators. The list included Kingsguard knights, city officials, and six of the seven captains responsible for the city gates; Leygood was named as a gold cloak alongside them. The account establishes his place among the accused, but does not explain his role in the alleged plot.
Death at the Gate of the Gods
The effort to take Leygood into custody became a short, savage battle at the Gate of the Gods. Nine people died, Leygood among them. Three accused captains escaped before they could be seized, but the account does not say that Leygood attempted to flee. His death closes his brief recorded arc: first enforcing the Crown’s seizure of Rogare assets, then becoming one of the officials targeted in a violent struggle over control of the regency.
